Eloise Carr was launched in the summer of 2008 by Samantha Thompson, a young fashion industry veteran with a spirited and humorous approach to design who believed that there was a dire need for a line of chic, flirty clothing with a flattering cut for women with real bodies and active social lives.

After graduating from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, Samantha decided to combine her life long love of fashion and her interest in international business by enrolling in the Fashion Institute of Technology’s prestigious International Fashion Design program.  Offered in partnership with POLIMODA in Florence, Italy, the intensive two year program included a year on the POLIMODA Florence campus and a year at FIT in New York City, giving Samantha the opportunity to absorb the famed Italian glamour aesthetic and combine it with a practical American approach to fashion.

After graduating in 2003, Samantha returned to Italy, first interning for famed dolce vita Roman couturier Fausto Sarli and then working in product development for Gucci Women’s Ready-to-Wear and Stella McCartney Knits.  Missing her family, Samantha returned to New York where she worked for Theory and avant garde designer Jen Kao before launching Eloise Carr in 2008.

Originally conceived as a small capsule collection of embellished coats for the Spring 2009 season, Eloise Carr has grown to include dresses, tops, loungewear and knits.  Taking an intelligent approach to fashion by combining immaculate tailoring with quirky prints and unexpected details results in a collection that is always appropriate but never predictable.
